Grandmaster David J. Praim

Grandmaster Praim was another Tang Soo Do pioneer in Michigan in the late 1960s. He studied Tang Soo Do in Korea under Master Jung Ha Lee while serving in the military from 1959 to 1962.

He received his Cho Dan in 1961 following his testing in Pusan, Korea. In 1967 he was appointed Director of Moo Duk Kwan for the State of Michigan by Grand Master Hwang Kee.

Along with many other distinctions, he was one of the first inductees in the Michigan Hall of Fame and was listed in “Master, Founder, and Leaders of American Martial Arts”.

In 1983, he received the “25 years in Martial Arts Award” which was presented by Chuck Norris at the National Testing & Awards Banquet.

As head coach for the Karate Institute, he led professional and amateur fighters to more then 5,000 victories in state, national, and international competition. Some of his professional regional and world rated fighters include Everett Eddy, Johnny Lee, Robb Hogan, Mike March and George Reynolds.

In 1992 he was awarded 8th Dan by the late Grandmaster Jae Joon Kim.

In 2010 Grandmaster Praim received his 9th Dan.

In 2014 Grandmaster Praim was inducted into the Korean Martial Arts Masters Hall of Fame.

In 2017 Grandmaster Praim received his 10th Dan promotion from the National Korean Martial Arts Association.
