Grandmaster Eung Kyo Han

9th Dan – Pin # 1369

Know as “The Tiger”, Grandmaster Han began his Tang Soo Do training at age 13 just after the Korean War. Born into a wealthy family, he was sent to learn Tang Soo Do for self defense.

In 1964 Grandmaster Han was the instructor for Korea’s White Horse Division which later fought in the Vietnam War. When he was ready to open his own club in 1969 he went to Grandmaster Hwang Kee to ask him for a name for the gym. Grandmaster Hwang Kee had early on given him the name “Tiger” because of the way he fought, so he told him to name it Tiger Gym.

At Grandmaster Hwang Kee’s request, he went to Malaysia / Brunei in 1972 to assist Master Kang Uk Lee. Upon Master Lee’s departure for the U.K., Grandmaster Han became the chief instructor for the region and was contracted to instruct the Royal Brunei Malay Regiment soldiers.

In 1992 he founded his own organization, Tiger Gym International, based out of Bintulu in Malaysia.

Grandmaster Han was also the first Tang Soo Do instructor to get a University degree in Physical Education and has extensive knowledge of the human body, pressure points and acupuncture.
