Master Soo, began his Korean Karate career in 1967, when he joined Master Sang Kyu Shim’s Detroit Tang Soo Do Association. His first instructor there was Grandmaster Dale Drouillard who was a 3rd Dan at the time. Following a move in 1973, Master Soo began training with Master Mike March with whom he continues his study of Tang Soo Do to this day.

In 2016 Master Soo was inducted into The Masters Hall of Fame.

In 2017 Master Soo received his 7th Dan promotion from Grandmaster Michael March.
