Master James Freeman

4th Dan

Master James W. Freeman, 1930-2007

Master Instructor Freeman studied Tang Soo Do for many years; not starting his studies until he was 40 years old.  His first instructor was Sr. Master R. Rutherford, he also studied with Grandmasters Jae Joon Kim and Jae Chul Shin.  Master Freeman taught at his own studio for about 15 years while working as a machine operator at General Motors in Flint, MI.

Master Freeman also studied Japanese Ithicowa for two years before starting his Tang Soo Do career.

Master Freeman was a kind man, who lived the definition of a marital artist he gave during a “Master of the Month” interview with the World Tang Soo Do Association.  The definition of a martial artist, according to Master Freeman is “someone who is a very friendly and kind, loyal person.  He depends on helping others, being true to himself and to others.  When he says he likes you, he means it from the bottom of his heart and will do anything and everything possible to guide you in the right direction.”

He will be missed.
